INTRODUCTION
By the term Pornography, the first
question comes in mind is – Is it a problem or a solution? This paper study and
evaluates, and explore on pornography. We are dealing this paper through social
understanding, legal aspects, religious aspects, constitution laws, and
biblical aspects. I.e. problems like sexual offences, which are consequences of
pornography, or solutions like relieving stress by watching pornographic content.
Bible is against pornography. It is sin in the sight of the lord.
1.1 Case.
In the village of
Baroda in Gujarat the person called Ravi was living, he was the assistant
pastor in the church of Gujarat. Because of certain family situation, Ravi is
unable to get marry although he seeks to satisfy his desires. Once in his
phone, the advertisement of porn pops up and he was so tempted to see, and
finally he broke the boundary and he watched porn then he became addicted to
it.
1.2 Ethical Dilemma or Primary Question
Can Ravi watch pornography?
2.
COMPETING
NORMS.
1. He
can consult a trust worthy friends who can help him to come out from this
situation.
2. He
can mingle with his family and do not be alone.
3. Have
an intimacy with God through prayer. Meditations etc.
4. He
can focus on his hobbies (music, sports etc.)
3.
ETYMOLOGY
The word porne stands for prostitute, graphein
means documentary, and so pornography literally means documenting a prostitute
or depictions of acts of prostitutes.
(Alicia, 3-4)
4.
PSYCHOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS
4.1 Recreational
Viewers
Recreational viewers are the people who watch porn
occasionally. This could mean they just watch here and
there, or they only watch a couple hours of porn a week.
4.2 Sexually Compulsive Viewers
Sexually compulsive viewers have typically been watching porn
for years and the content they watch now is very different from what they
watched in the beginning. Moreover, not only has their porn of choice turned
more hardcore to satisfy them, these viewers turn to porn as a way to deal with
their problems.

5. REASONS FOR PORNOGRAPHY
Sex addiction sometimes referred to as hyper
sexuality or hypersexual disorder, is defined as the compulsive need to have
sexual activity in spite of the ensuing potential negative consequences.
5.1 Arousal
The top reason why people look at
porn is for sexual pleasure, and out of all the explanations, this is the one
porn is specifically produced for.
(https:// additictionsource.com/addition/pornography-addition/)
5.2 Education
For teenagers and the rising
generation, figuring out how sex works is a common reason to turn to porn. The
curiosity is real, and porn is the easiest place to explore. However, does that
make it the best place?
A survey of 2500
school and university students in the India found 60% watch porn to get
information about sex.

additictionsource.com/addition/pornography-addition/)
5.3 Loneliness
Loneliness is having a moment in the
spotlight. At the start of this year, the British Prime Minister appointed a
minister of lowliness following a 2017 report that 9 million people in the
UK often or always feel lonely.
Nevertheless, feeling lonely is no
longer a problem just for the elderly. Almost ten percent of young
people aged 16-24 agreed that they often felt lonely, suggesting loneliness is
significantly affecting millennial and the following generation

5.4 Peer Pressure
The desire to fit in wherever we are
culturally and socially is innate in most of us. Teens and young adults, in
particular, are known to seek inclusivity, but also be subject to peer
pressure.
Research has shown that this is the case in teens viewing online porn and
sexting.break; Teens say they experience peer pressure to engage in both behaviours,
advising both are used to “achieve peer acceptance and to display or gain
status.”

EFFECT OF PORNOGRAPHY
According to Thorne the Most pornography users
present with anxiety, depression, discontent, or a difficulty in relationships
at home or at church.
6.1
The Issues of Additions
Lodha says, the main
debate about pornography is how it influences deviant behavior, sexual thoughts
and fantasies. It proves that when pornography is viewed more frequently, then
the fantasies are stuck in your head and whenever a person feels aroused, he
may act according to the fantasies developed in the mind. It is proved that use
of pornographic materials was very significantly related to the situation where
an individual asks their female partner to engage in a sexual act, which may be
violent. In addition, sometimes women can be forced to engage in such acts if
they do not give their consent freely. In addition to this it is also proved
that the younger the age of an individual is when he first watched porn then he
would more likely engage in sexually assaultive behavior.
(Rishab Lodha, 4)

Recent research indicates that about 15% of
Christian women use pornography every Month that number is slightly more
encouraging than the non-Christian world where 18% Log on at least once a week.
Both numbers are likely to grow. Now, over 60% of girls are exposed to explicit
material online before the age of eighteen. And about 50% of young Women
consider pornography to be an acceptable way to express their sexuality.
(Women and pornography, Helen Thorne)
1. Most of the youths are addicted on pornography
by seeing adults’ movies. (Ex. Ragini MMS, Games of thrones, secret games)
2. It is a curiosity and fantasies child and
youth are liked to be in this fantasize.
3. Every child is born up with their mobile
phones and the free internet makes them to addict.

advertisement from the companies, films, this all things makes the human to be
in curiosity to see and get pleasure in it.

Porn Viewers
This group defines the large group of people who watch porn habitually
and regularly. They might not be considered full on compulsive viewers with a
raging addiction, but they certainly have created a strong habit and regular
routine of watching porn. People that fall into this group have likely tried to

(Pornography in India, A moral dilemma. Jaskaran sing)

8. THE LEGAL ANALYSIS
The legal aspect of pornography shows wide variations from country to
country. Using porn sites in private is not illegal in India but the production
and sharing of pornography are both illegal, hence it allows the individual to
see porn privately. By the virtue of Information Technology Act, 2000
(hereinafter referred as „IT Act‟) Chapter XI 67, the Government of India takes
into account the online pornography as punishable offence. The CEO of Indian
subsidiary of eBay was charged with various criminal offences for allowing the
trading of and containing these clips on the websites. According to 2010 survey
of children and young adults, done by the Indian Ministry of Women and Child
Development, 53.22% of children had reported of sexual abuse and 5.69% of

THE CONSTITUTIONAL LAWS

India although the sharing or production of such material is outlawed.
Similarly, the publication of „X‟ rated materials is also contraband. The IT

against sale of obscene objects to minors and Section 292 of Indian Penal Code
is also relevant which appertains pornography or “obscenity” which was amended
by the IT Act to include electronic data. The amendment of IT Act took place in

downloading or creating child pornography. Child anime porn is also explicitly
illegalised. browsing for child pornography on the internet can lead to a
therefore, imprisonment for the term of 5 years and fine of 4 Lakhs is set as a
punishment by the Government of India for browsing of child pornography on the
internet.
(The Information Technology Act, 2000.sec ,88)
10. OTHER RELIGIONS VIEWRS
10.1
Hinduism
Masturbation is a part of sexuality and is not
considered a sin in Hindu society. Most modern Indians claiming to be
“conservative”, have no knowledge of sexuality in Hindu philosophy. They equate
Abrahamic concepts and thoughts on sexuality, which are abnormal and often
perverse, to those in the Hindu society. These perversions permeated into India
during the period of foreign invasions, and unfortunately became the norms
prevalent in today's “rural or conservative” Hindu society. There are some
temples in Hinduism which surround with the naked arts. (Pornography)

10.2 Islam
"Surely God enjoins justice,
kindness and the doing of good, to kith and kin; and He forbids all that
is shameful, indecent, evil, rebellious and oppressive.
" InnaAllah Yamuru bil Adel, wal ehsane, WA itae zil
qurba; WA yanha anil fuhshae, wal munkari
walbaghi; yaizukhum lallakum tazakkaroon. (Quran16:90)
Sister Sharifa R and all
scholars of Islam agree that pornography is absolutely Haram and a clear sin.
Some may think, however, that
only hard-core pornography is Islamically unacceptable. This is not true.
Watching improperly dressed men and women in sexual situations, as well as
engaged in various types of foreplay and dirty jokes are not acceptable.
(https://times of
india.indiatimes.com/topic/banning-pornography-websites-in-india)
10.3 Sikhism
Mainstream
religions, Sikhism does not permit premarital sex. Lust is one of the five
‘thieves’ that Sikhs must resist: lust, rage, greed, conceit and attachment.
Premarital sex is considered to be driven by lust and therefore should be
avoided. Monogamy is also important in Sikhism.

10.4 Jainism
Banning pornographic in India, renowned
Jain monk Acharya Vijayratnasundar.Surishwarji. Said that he has
filed a petition in court seeking a nationwide ban. According to him,
pornographic websites are harming the Indian culture. In addition, He told to
ban the sex education in schools.

BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE
White says Christian should understand the “obligation
has to preserve purity of mind and heart”. Jesus says that the lustful look is
equal to adultery, and declared the only destruction was that which comes from
within (matt 5: 28, mark7:26) The NT thrives in warnings concerning “lust of
the flesh”, “lust of the eyes”, “concupiscence”, uncleanness things (Ephesians 2:3)
so we are not to see the pornography. This is the sin against the lord.
The worldly attraction
makes us to fall in the sin, that leads us to the hell. It is so paramount that
the discussions of “setting the mind of the flesh”. (romans 8:5-13). Almost a
definition of pornography addiction, through Paul includes more as spiritual
death, hostility to god, inability to please him. The Holy Spirit leads us to
the right path. He dwells inside us and avoid the attraction mind from worldly
things. In genesis 3, Adam and Eve begin sin with the attraction of their eyes
that leads them to the disconnection with god. Not every thought or desires
concerning sex is sinful. But Christians “have crucified the flesh with its
desires and lusts”, will not obey it or be slaves to it (Romans 6:12, Titus
34:5). So the attraction of eyes is also sinful against god. If you have the
right relationship with god no sin can enter in you, and holy spirit will lead
us to in right path.
(R.E.O. White,862-63)
Both the OT and NT have
strong resentments towards the issues of sexual immorality and they condemn
every form of pornography. Bible is so clear that even the attraction may lead
us to sin. In the Old Testament and New Testament god Cleary define about the
sin that leads to spiritual death in our life.
1.
Old Testament - Yahweh was so clear that
not to be associated with temple prostitution. (Deuteronomy 23:17, 18).
2.
New Testament - Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he
who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body (1 Corinth 6:18).
Apostle Peter surely described lovers of pornography when he spoke of those who
had eyes of adultery (2 Peter 2:14).
(K. Mahendra, 25-27)
12. RECONCILING THE CASE
Society is against the pornography. And
mostly pornography is influenced from the society itself. Even the illegal is
against the pornography. Bible is also emphases that even the lust of the eyes
is sin. And moreover pornography is not acceptable by a human being.
1. Retain
Now on pornography we
do not have to follow anything but we have to avoid the pornography. We need to
be aware that pornography leads us to in sin.
2. Reject
We need to leave thought of adultery
from our life. Because we are god’s children. And God does not like the unholy
things. Pornography gives pleasure for time beings but it leads to sin forever.
So it need to leave.
3.
Rework
Breaking a porn addiction is not easy, but there are ways to overcome
addiction, such as by:
1.
Acknowledging the problem
2.
Avoiding excessive alone time and
idleness
3.
Engaging in meaningful activities
4.
Strengthening the support network
5.
Finding resources and educating oneself
We can change our mentality towards
pornography. We can change the society by banning some advertisement, and
always give the awareness of pornography to addict.
13.
CONCLUSSION
The Christians response to pornography
is “Cloth yourselves with the lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to
gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Whatever is pure, whatever
`is lovely, whatever is admirable – if
anything is excellent or praise worthy think about such things. So do good and
better things for the Christ. And obey the lord’s commandments. The pastor Ravi
he cannot watch the pornography. Because it is sin the gods eye. So he can confess
and repent his sin and have a holy and good relationship with Jesus Christ.
